Draft Bona Fide Financial Reasons Policy
House Bill 490 amends Kentucky law to allow for faculty dismissal based on a broader range of bona fide financial reasons than the traditional standard of financial exigency. It requires each institution's board to establish and communicate a formal process for such actions by October 1, 2026. In response, the Faculty Senate is developing a policy proposal through shared governance, with open faculty participation and an open drafting process.
